By way of introduction, the house group is not just for parents of Crossover, but it meets during the hour and a half of Crossover.
The easiest way of describing the house group is to say:
‘No question is taboo; any subject can be explored.’
As Christians we often have questions that we feel we cannot voice; the Sunday night house group aims to look at those questions among other things. We have over the past year explored questions on the Sunday sermons, the BUS (Baptist Union of Scotland) study ‘An Invitation to a Journey’ and various topics such as ‘Why go to church,’ ‘Why God feels so distant when we most need God’, ‘The value of doubt,’ ‘Why Pray,’ ‘Ten Christian clichés we must never use.’
The topic of the evening rarely stays on track and diverges into other areas, which meets the aim of the house group; an aim that has evolved over the time we’ve been meeting. The aim is not to try and find a proof text from the Bible, but to see how to make sense of this thing we call the Christian life in the day to day grind of our lives.
